Badminton being one of the main sports in Malaysia has certainly attracted a huge number of fans all over the country. One of the most prestigious badminton tournaments held is the Malaysia Open which has been played since 1937 in various states such as Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Penang, Selangor and many more.

The event was however interrupted twice from 1942 to 1946 due to World War II, and the second time from 1969 to 1982.

Besides it being an important agenda in BAM’s (Badminton Association of Malaysia) calendar, the Malaysia Open is also an event that unites the whole nation together regardless of race and religion.
